ZITHROPYX Azithromycin Tablets USP 500 mg
COMPOSITION:
Each film-coated tablet contains: Azithromycin Dihydrate USP to Azithromycin Base 500 mg

INDICATIONS:
Respiratory Tract Infection, Urinary Tract Infection, Skin & Soft tissue Infections, Genital Infection, Uncomplicated chlamydial Infection, Otitis media.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Hypersensitivity to ZITHROPYX [Azithromycin]or any macrolide antibiotics. Co-administration with ergot derivatives.
PRECAUTIONS:
- Hepatic and renal impairment.
- Pseudomembranous colitis.
- Antacids with Ca and Mg.
USE IN PREGNANCY:
ZITHROPYX [Azithromycin] does cross the placenta and should be used during pregnancy only if adequate alternatives are not available.
DRUG INTERACTIONS:
- Disopyramide: Displaced from its protein-bound sites.
- Digoxin: Increases its absorption.
- Midazolam: Increases its half-life.
- Terfenadine: Serum levels increased leading to ventricular arrhythmias.
ADVERSE REACTIONS:
Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhoea/flatulence, Epigastric distress, Dizziness/vertigo, Headache, Urticaria, Rash, Jaundice, Cardiac effects.
OVERDOSAGE:
Emesis, gastric lavage. Administer activated charcoal. General supportive & symptomatic treatment. Dialysis is of no help.
DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION:
Adults: URTI/LRTI, skin & soft tissue infection: 500mg OD-3 days or 500 OD on day, 1 followed by 250mg OD – 4days.
UTI (chlamydial) – 1g single dose.
Children: 10mg/kg/d x 3days or 10mg/kg/d on day one followed by 5mg/kg/once daily for 5 days or as directed by the Physician.
STORAGE:
Store below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep the medicine out of reach of children.
